She passed away last night of natural causes at the age of 85. After retiring from acting at 22, she served in the U.S. delegation to the United Nations, and as U.S. ambassador to both Ghana and Czechoslovakia. Quite an accomplished woman.

Yes, but she retired from acting almost 70 years ago, so she's been largely out of the public eye for some time.

Drink of the night: 1,5 oz spiced rum, 5 oz ginger beer (ale if you don't have beer), 1 oz grenadine, maraschino cherry. Serve on the rocks.
